2015 Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion

The 2015 Golden Globe Awards had some seriously fabulous fashion moments. There were daring dresses, new faces, and a good dose of inspiration for plus size special occasion dresses. Take a peek at our top picks from the star-studded evening and be sure to  let us know what you think! golden globe logo Silver Belles It’s the “Golden” Globes, but silver stole the show as celebs wore shimmering gowns in every shade of gray on the red carpet. Julianne Moore wooed the crowd in an ombré Givenchy Haute Couture design. Silver sequins gently faded into charcoal and black feathers at the bottom – gorgeous! Allover embellishment was key, with stars donning silver sparkles from head to toe. Reese Witherspoon went simple and chic in a strapless gown, while Ellie Kemper decided to amp it up a notch with tonal patterned beading. Not-So-Basic Black Black is normally the “safe” color for plus size formal gowns. But this year’s Golden Globes fashion showed us that black can be daring and incredibly sexy. Danielle Brooks is feisty on Orange is the New Black, and she showed off her curves perfectly last night in a sleeveless dress with gold brocade details. Co-star Laura Prepon was stunning in a long-sleeve black gown, but she avoided looking like Elvira with pretty floral applique and swirling patterns, courtesy of designer Christian Siriano. Allison Tolman totally pulled off this color and checked off every trend on our radar: one shoulder silhouette, sheer details, subtle shine (check out the horsehair hem!), and a stack of gold bangles to match her box clutch. Winter Whites Heading to the other end of the color spectrum, winter whites were a huge trend at the Golden Globes. This color is chic and clean, and stars wore it with fresh-faced makeup and low-key accessories. Julia Louis-Dreyfus wore a one-shoulder gown in icy cream; we couldn't help but think of our Devoted Forever bridal gown when we saw her. And Chrissy Teigen wore the color with long sleeves and a subtle scoop neck. It was a perfect example of the more covered-up dresses we’re seeing on and off the red carpet. Having John Legend as your date doesn't hurt either… Scarlet Shades This vivid color was a hit at last year’s Golden Globes, and it continued this year but with extra details. Viola Davis added cascading paillettes to her strapless satin gown, while Kata Mara added a blush colored belt. Belts can be a tough accessory for a plus size black tie formal, but an embellished waistline or a sash is a perfect final touch. And while Lena Dunham’s red dress got mixed reviews, we do like the sculptural seams and clean high-low hemline. golden globe red dresses actresses

Hollywood Starlets Old Hollywood looks took center stage this year, and they are perfect for showing off curvy figures. Ruching along the waist and bust of Amy Adams’ gown was a spectacular update to a classic silhouette. Jessica Chastain pulled off the look in a liquid gunmetal dress with retro bombshell waves and smoldering eye makeup. And supermodel Cindy Crawford pretty much never has a bad hair day, but we really love the jewel accents on her Grecian gown. Haute Halter This was an unexpected detail at the Golden Globes. Halter necks were new for celebrities like Jennifer Aniston. And the women of Orange is the New Black are clearly having a fashion moment – cast member Uzo Aduba elevated the classic halter neck with jewel embellishment and berry red lips. There was so much to see and talk about at this year’s Golden Globes. Did Melissa McCarthy nail it or miss the mark? Who’s host wardrobe was better, Tina Fey or Amy Poehler? Keep the conversation going and let us know what you thought of this year’s red carpet looks and plus size celebrity style!
