When & why did you start selling formal wear?
We started selling Prom & Wedding dresses 12 years ago. We developed a passion for sizes 14 and up when we discovered that there was not a great selection for girls in those sizes.
Name two things you would like future customers to know about your store.
We would like future customers to know that we have New and Consigned gowns and we have a passion for finding the right dress for ladies in sizes 14 and up.
What is unique about your store?
What is unique about our store is our over 3000 dresses we have in stock all year long with new arrivals daily!
What do you love about Sydney's Closet?
We love Sydney's Closet attention to details and especially fit. The dresses are made from great quality fabrics and beading that you don't always see with the most popular prom dress designers.
If you were to tell one person "Thank You" for helping you become the person you are today, who would it be and what did they do?
If I could tell one person Thank You for helping me to become the person I am today it would be my Mom. She has always been a very hard worker and she is very driven. I have learned from her example to never give up and always keep pushing ahead!
What characteristic do you most admire in your staff?
My staff is everything to me and I could not do this without them! I admire their desire to help our customers find the perfect dress for them no matter the budget.
Which Sydney's Closet dress is your all time favorite? Why?
TE1810 is our Favorite dress because it looks great on every body type.
What trends are you noticing for prom this year?
Sparkle!!
Describe the biggest accomplishment so far for your business.
We started out as a family consignment store in Bowling Green and completely by surprise within just a few years our main store developed into a prom and wedding gown store only. We now have separate stores for our family consignment clothing and have opened a furniture location as well.
What is the best business advice you have been given?
The best business advice is to be working when everyone else is not.
Do you have a store "motto" - spoken or unspoken? If so, what is it?
Everyone is beautiful!
Which celebrity would you love to have walk into your store? Why?
Oprah is such a inspiration and I would want to ask her so many questions about building a business that is not only successful but also considerate to our customers needs.
What do you love about the 2019 Tease Prom Collection?
We LOVE the styles of the new dresses along with the sparkle. Your attention to details like being able to wear and hide a bra is perfect.
Describe what a new customer could expect while visiting your store.
A new customer coming to our store for the first time is always surprised by our large selection and the quality of our dresses.
What has surprised you the most about the prom industry?
What has surprised us most about the prom industry is how much the dresses change each year.
Tell us a funny story about an experience in your store.
No one would believe it but every season we have to literally cut 1-2 people out of a dress.
