What's Not Seen on the Red Carpet?

Ever notice what's not seen on the red carpet? It's plus size celebrities wearing glamorous evening gowns. Take, for example, Sunday's Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards show ow televised Sunday. Jet lagged from a design trip to China, I slept soundly through the broadcast. So I did the next best thing. When I woke up I got online to catch photographs of the stars in their gorgeous dresses. Search as hard as I could, I didn't find one plus size star. That made me mad. Really mad. I had to ask myself: did I miss something? Somehow, I doubt it. Over and over again, the Internet images showcased stick thin actresses in an endless array of formal wear. There were endless slideshows online featuring Sarah Hyland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the like.

I had to ask myself what happened? Basically, I came up with three theories: 1) no curvy celebs walked the red carpet 2) very few of the hundreds of photographers took images of plus size stars posing on the red carpet 3) the few photographs that do get taken end up on the cutting room floor

I'm going with theories two and three. Clearly Hollywood photographers focus their lenses on toothpick thin actresses. What stops them from including more live images of plus size celebs like Gabourey Sidibe or Rebel Wilson? Are they afraid the images of real bodies will reflect poorly on their work? Do they think we don't want to see what an evening gown looks like on a full figure? Course there is one exception Oprah never gets snubbed.

Rebel-Wilson-In-Theia-Pain-Gain-LA-Premiere Maybe we'll never have a true answer. But what I do know is that two out of every three American women wears a size 14 or larger. And she'd love to see a star with a body more like hers - than a child-like figure - on the red carpet. Now it's your turn to weigh in on what's not seen on the red carpet. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Let me know!
