Meet the Designing Duo
With this pioneering collaboration, Kayne teamed up with Phyllis Brasch Librach, the designer at Sydney’s Closet. Librach has more than a decade of experience creating Prom, Wedding and Evening gowns exclusively for curvy teens and women who wear plus sizes 14 to 40.
Librach and Kayne bring more than three decades of experience designing and selling special occasion dresses to teens and women, That rich experience gives them exceptional insight and knowledge into dressing a curvy customer for once-in-a lifetime events like Prom, weddings, military balls, black tie affairs, family celebrations, formal dances, Hollywood award shows and cruises.
“Every woman dreams of what to wear for her red-carpet moment,” says Librach. “Kayne and I understand elegance is more than just a fashionable look. It’s an attitude.
You may ask yourself what’s a designer of plus-size Prom, Wedding and Evening gowns doing teaming up with a Project Runway designer creating custom dresses for big name celebrities like Dolly Parton and Reba McIntrye and national pageant winners?
Simple: the duo is making bold unexpected moves and essentially disrupting, in a very positive fashion sense, what women with curves can – and can’t - wear to formal and semi-formal events.
Their collection has elevated the options for plus size evening wear to new heights of glamour, drama and magic. And still manages to keep that all-important stronghold on a fit that flatters a fuller figure.
“I just adore seeing the change when a woman puts on a formal evening gown that exquisitely frames and flatter her curves,’’ says Kayne. “In a split second, she is standing taller, moving with greater grace and smiling with the confidence of knowing she looks glamorous.”
Kayne and Librach wanted to create an evening wear collection in plus size that women found meaningful, inspiring and beautiful. Then they curated the collection for a plus-size customer with exquisite taste who wanted to be seduced by fashion for a formal evening.
“The overall look and feel is evening wear that reimagines classic styling with a modern twist” said Librach.

2021 Collection on the Drawing Board
Pumped up with creativity from the huge success of the first collection, Kayne and Librach are already hard at work creating their 2021 collection. They traveled 8,500 miles to China in November 2019 to begin the design and sampling process.
Armed with sketches of fresh, new ideas, they shopped the largest fabric market in China to source feminine and classic evening dress fabrics like velvet, satin and lace. They hunted the stalls for beads, sequins, crystals, rhinestones, pearls to embellish the designs with just the right amount of bling and dazzle for a big night.
The results are sure to be nothing short of spectacular! Stay tuned for a sneak peek!
