Nearly a full school year has passed since Hurricane Sandy wreaked her havoc on the East Coast. But, one lucky high school in East Rockaway, NY allowed Rent the Runway & Sydney’s Closet the chance to help them finish out their school year on a high note.
With prom season in full force, many East Rockaway families trying to put their lives back together couldn’t possibly focus on picking gowns or doing their hair. This is where Rent the Runway’s Sandy recovery contest stepped in to make all their dreams come true with a prom gift to remember. As Founder of Sydney’s Closet, the minute I heard about the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, I knew I wanted to give back to Rockaway Beach, my hometown. So I jumped at the opportunity to donate prom frocks that rock, for teens with beautiful curves.
For senior Angelina Green, finding her Prom dress was just a fantasy. “I never had a Sweet 16 party so this is my last chance to feel like a Princess”, she shared as she laced up one of our pistachio strapless ball gowns.
