Choose Your Prom Hairstyle

Your prom hair styles will depend upon many factors.  As with dress shopping, keep a Pinterest board of ideas that you like.

Keep in mind:

Face Shape - think about the shape of your face. Consider styling your hair to best accentuate your face shape.

Oval - go for any look! You could try an updo, French twist or anything to highlight your face - just stay away from  scrunchies!

Round - pump up the volume around the top of your head and leave the other half down while keeping the frame of your face - keep it light and loose (no slick back buns)

Square - keep your hair pulled back away from your stunning jawline and go for a full ponytail or bun

Heart - add lots of volume on the top of your crown and choose from casual few loose stray pieces framing your face or a slick back look

Diamond - add volume to the sides and bottom of your hair with a nice half updo; minimize the volume on to

Dress Neckline - depending on the neckline of your plus size prom gown, you may want to search for a specific hair do.

Halter - show off your neckline with a classic ponytail, high bun or up do

Strapless - play around with your hair look but our favorite is glamorous flowing loose texture

Straps - you can't go wrong with an updo or even hair down; just keep it simple

High - keep your hair away from your face and simple to show off the beautiful beading

Get creative with your hair style for your Prom. These intricate hairstyles will stand out!

Choose Your Prom Makeup Look

As with your prom hairstyle, choosing prom makeup depends on a variety of factors. To find the perfect look, we recommend the following:

Gather your inspiration from social media. Choose a glam look that compliments your prom gown and desired look. You don't want to overpower your dress (or do you?).

Go shopping! Take your ideas and inspiration to a local makeup counter to do a trial run or for help with purchasing your makeup. You may even be able to book them for prom night and get some tips along the way.

Do a test run of your makeup to check for durability and if you like it! This is especially important if you are going to wear false eyelashes. You can do this at home or go to a professional. Keep it on long enough to last all night long on prom night.

While we love the natural look for day to night events, this is your chance to Go Prom Crazy with your makeup style. A bright lip or elaborate eye with lots of shine will give you that look.

A Little Extra

There are so many dos and don'ts for prom night beauty. We love this article from Seventeen, for this article about the Top 50 Prom Beauty Tips.  Some highlights are:

Strapless gown? Use shimmer tint lotion on your exposed neckline and dust on bronzing power

Before you spray, use a small amount of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) where you normally put your perfume for a long lasting smell.

Bring backup eye shadow and a stash of Qtips for touch ups

Prepare for any weather - you never know when it may rain!

Shoes hurt? Use some deodorant on the sides of your feet to help prevent uncomfortable shoes.

Before walking out the door on prom night, check to make sure that you have these essentials with you for if, and when, beauty emergencies happen.
