Behind-the-Scenes UK Plus Size Bridal Shoot

Behind-the-Scenes UK Plus Size Bridal Shoot

Come behind-the-scenes when Sydney's Closet goes on location for a United Kingdom plus size bridal shoot in the magnificent Cotswolds region. Remember the magic of idyllic villages painted for once-upon-a-time fairy tales. Well, such a picturesque place does exist...   plus size photoshoot It’s Bibury, tucked in hills of the famed Cotswolds countryside, just a two hour drive northwest of London. You may recognize Bibury as the location of the classic film Bridget Jones's Diary.   We found the old-world charm to be the picture-perfect location to shoot our Michelle Bridal 2017 Collection of plus size wedding gowns.   The timing worked out perfectly, coming just days after our smashing debut at the Harrogate Bridal Show where stockists from throughout the UK fell in love with the Michelle Bridal Collection and Sydney's Closet Collection of informal plus size wedding gowns ideal for destination weddings.   On Location UK Plus Size Bridal Shoot   On the day of the shoot, we arrived in Bibury before 8:00 am, just before a busload of Japanese tourists arrived, who were visiting local villages. The area became famous when Empire Hirohito stayed in the village when he toured Europe and remarked about its unique charm when he returned home to Japan.   Tourists from around the world visit Bibury to see famous Arlington Row, an exquisitely preserved string of of honey-colored stone cottages with steep pitched roofs. Monks originally built the structures more than 700 years ago as wool barns. Later the dozen or so buildings were converted into cottages for the weavers.   We came to photograph a selection of Sydney's Closet's Spring 2017 wedding dresses from the Michelle Bridal Collection designed to fit and flatter real women's bodies - not just straight sizes. plus size model   Curve model, Jodie Folley, Miss Plus Size United Kingdom, literally stopped traffic wearing our modern plus size bridal dress. Tourists wished her “Congratulations,” assuming she was an actual bride, not a plus model rocking our latest plus size wedding dresses. We adored seeing a busload of curious tourists insist she pose with them – along with their bright red travel banner!   Shortly after setting up our photography team for the first shot in front of the famed Arlington Row cottages, the skies turned overcast, and rain loomed over our idyllic garden photoshoot. The rain held off long enough for us to shoot the first wedding look, a long sleeve Princess design in ivory lace over champagne.   When the rain finally did come, we escaped to the cars and the van that doubled as our on-location dressing room. Our fashion team's patience paid off. The clouds cleared, giving us sunny skies and fabulous lighting for our gorgeous plus model!   And we started shooting. Over the next four hours we photographed four of our latest fabulous plus size designs including one of our dreamiest ball gowns yet. Our fashion crew moved from elegant stone walls to rustic fences, the garden of a private English estate, and even to a well-manicured garden. plus size wedding dress Our photographer, John Bigglestone based out of London, worked his magic snapping the camera to capture incredible images that capture the romance of a special bride's wedding day.   As the sun set over the hills of Bibury, we wrapped up the final shot with swans gliding past us on the River Coln that meanders through the village.   We wrapped up our photoshoot with a trip to the local pub to toast our successful photo shoot with a pint of locally brewed English Ale.   We can't wait to share the final images from the UK shoot to be posted soon on our website, at www.sydneyscloset.com!
