How to Measure for a Plus Size Dress Video

Did you ever wonder just how to measure for a plus size dress? You're not alone! Here at Sydney's Closet our Fashion Team gets asked that question everyday. Teens shopping for Prom dresses want to know. So do Brides going down the aisle along with their bridesmaids, Mothers and wedding guests.
I decided to help by producing a video that takes the mystery out of measuring for a dressy plus size dress.  Our easy - and entertaining - video stars Marcy Guevara, as guest host and stylist, and Kelsey Olson, the gorgeous blonde plus size model you see featured in so many of our photos. Watch the video! You'll learn how to find a frock that best fits your curves. Marcy shares easy and entertaining tips as she teams up with Kelsey to demonstrate just how easy it is to take your measurements. Measuring correctly is critical when you buy a plus size Prom, Wedding, Cocktail or Evening dress. That's because there are no size standards in the dress industry, each manufacturer creates there own. So it's no wonder you're confused! Sizes are all over the place whether you buy a ball gown or blue jeans. For example, the Size 18 I design for Sydney's Closet collections can be up to four inches bigger in the waist than a Size 18 created by another designer. If you try on a gown by a third designer, you might find the waist is two inches smaller than the one on our Size Chart. My goal is to make this the very first in what will become a series of videos Sydney's Closet creates to help make shopping for plus size special occasion dresses stress free. We have some thoughts on what videos to make next. But I'm dying hear your ideas for future videos. Our Video Gallery allows you to step behind the scenes on our photo shoots in L.A. and St. Louis so you can see how all the magic happens. Watch the models on set wearing romantic bridal gowns, pretty Prom gowns and flirty cocktail dresses. Our creative juices got pumped up producing the How to Measure video shot on location at Unique Vintage in L.A., a must-visit dress shop with a fab selection of styles over size 14! I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it! Be sure not to miss the scoop when Marcy sits down with me for a Q and A interview with an insider's look at her experience hosting the video. You could be surprised at just what you learn. Hint: it's the color of the lipstick she wore for the video!)
