What inspired you to start modeling?

I learned about plus-size modeling when I entered a modeling competition. After getting to top ten and invited to participate in a photoshoot, I was blown away with how much fun it is to confidently show up on set and slay at any size. After that experience I realized that modeling was perfect for me considering I loved having my picture taken since I was really young. That along with the fact that this industry holds some of the most positive and beautiful people.

What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

As soon as I wake up every morning I make coffee in my French press and turn on some music to start off my day feeling bright.

Michael B. Jordan

Where has been your favorite place to shoot?

NYC!

 What's your current fashion trend obsession?

I am currently obsessed with ruched anything: dresses, shirts and skirts! (Morgan rocked our JK2106 in ruby!)

 

Who inspires your modeling career?

My modeling career is inspired by the girls I have met and continue to meet who are fellow models. Of course there are supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks who inspire me but I find most of my inspiration in the work ethic of those currently beside me who are not willing to give up on their dreams.

Must-have fashion accessory?

Hoops all day every day!

What advice would you give to women hoping to get into the industry?

I would say don’t think twice just start and allow yourself to enter this industry at your own pace with no rules because your uniqueness is key to your success.

What's the most exciting aspect of being a plus-size model?

The most exciting part of plus-modeling is the representation for girls that look like me and want to see more of themselves in fashion.

What are some of your favorite modeling poses to flatter your curves?

My favorite poses include:
1) having my hand on one hip and the other behind my head and all of my weight leaning on one leg while the other leg is out to the side  
2) a simple pose hugging yourself lightly

Do you have any advice for designers in the plus-size industry when it comes to look, feel, and fit?

I think designers should always keep in mind the diverse shapes that exist. Certain clothes may fit one plus-size person comfortably but the next person completely opposite because of body types differ.

What was your favorite part about the shoot?

My favorite part about the shoot was feeling like royalty in literally every dress and seeing how passionate the Sydney’s Closet team is about the garments.

What was your favorite dress of ours to model in and why?

My absolute favorite dress was the light purple short dress with a train attached. Purple is my favorite color and the dress has the most subtle and beautiful sprinkles of gold. It’s so good!

Tell us a funny story from the shoot.

One funny story was when everyone in the hair/makeup room started to unexpectedly bond over 90 day fiancé and literally we were able to break down every detail of the show and all of its seasons because of how obsessed we were with the cast. This makes me miss being on set <3!

 

What did you love about working with Sydney's Closet?

I loved the work environment! Everyone on set was encouraging and loving and it was a priceless three days.

Describe your favorite gown from the shoot and why you feel that way.

I think the most beautiful dress on me from the shoot was the dark gold/metal colored dress. It made my melanin pop, it would compliment any size body and it can easily be styled to your liking. It’s versatile and sexy!

Anything else you want to share about the shoot?

I would love to recreate the moments we had on set but I also know that in the future only more fun and exciting times will happen with Sydney’s Closet. The atmosphere is magic!
