Red Carpet Fashion at 2015 SAG Awards
Who took top fashion honors at the 2015 SAG Awards? The night started off a bit slow on the red carpet but amped up as the evening wore on, giving us plenty of dresses to gush over. Read on to see our favorite looks that rule and discover the hot trends from the big night of red carpet fashion at 2015 SAG Awards! Key Shape: Brush Your Shoulders Off There’s nothing like a trend that is fashionable and comfortable, so we could not be more excited about all the one-shoulder gowns at the SAG Awards. This fashion look has the glamour of a strapless gown and the functionality of a strap that can be dressed up or down depending on the effect you want to create. Yes, please! Reese Witherspoon looked stunning and modern in a one-shoulder Giorgio Armani dress. The matte sequin detailing was an understated add-on to a sleek dress shape that fit her personality. Stunner Danielle Brooks wore a gown with a sheer one-shoulder overlay and black embellishment to show off her Old Hollywood look, complete with wavy locks and smoky eye makeup. And Sufe Bradshaw went for a simple black dress, but the draped shoulder on one side was paired with a thigh high slit on the other. It’s a good trick for balancing dress details that are not on the center of a dress. All these one-shoulder dresses reminded us of our Circle of Love gown (SC 5032). This plus size dress uses a softly ruched bodice and strap banded in opposite directions to create an eye-catching, and fashionable, look. It may be one strap instead of two, but the possibilities of a one-shoulder dress are endless. Key Color: Purple Reigns Color is always on our radar during a red carpet fashionevent, and the 2015 SAG Awards were no different. The winner this year was definitely deep purple as seen on every shape and fabric. It is a color that works on just about every skin tone, and we offer it in several of our plus size dresses like In TheSpotlight (SC7084) in Power Purple. The curve-hugging fit and asymmetrical draping add a statement twist to complete the dramatic look. As for the celebrity styles, Camila Alves’ sleeveless gown by Donna Karan was sultry in eggplant, and the soft, velvety material showed off her curves perfectly. Keira Knightly went for a midnight plum shade in exquisite lace with a sheer illusion neckline. And Eliz Rodriguez took on a brighter, but still elegant, shade of purple in a one-shoulder gown (another one!). Key Detail: Bling It On 3-d appliqué, beads…bling it on! The SAG Awards had plenty of jewels, not counting Sofia Vergara’s new engagement ring which we think you can see from space. These jewels were on dresses, and they made dramatic fashion statements without looking gaudy. Laverne Cox (Getty Images) of Orange is the New Black wore a dress with layers of champagne gold sequins along the neckline. And Paula Patton wore a white dress with gold embellishment on the shoulders, bust, and waist. But all the placements worked together, creating a look that was uniquely alluring. Julianne Moore matched her fiery red hair back to an emerald gown, but the real stunner of her dress was the cascading beading that looked like it was dripping all the way to the hem. The 2015 SAG Awards showed many dresses that took on a classic color or shape and made it look new and exciting. And as awards season continues, we hope to see even more amazing dresses that will inspire new styles. More to come! Shopping for red carpet fashion for a special occasion on your social calendar.
