Remember, Prom lasts just a few hours – even though the memories stay with you fort a lifetime. There is a good chance you'll wear your Prom dress just once then stash in a closet and forgotten until you move or clean!
Sydney's Closet stylists can help. Follow these shopping tips to land a trendy Prom dress without blowing your budget. Best of all, the money you save can help pay for Prom shoes, purse, hairdo and even the limo – so you’re sure to arrive in celebrity style.
Shop Ahead
It’s never too early to shop for a discounted plus size dress for 2021. You can count on stores and web sites slash prices by late Spring of each year. So hit the clearance racks early - and often - for the best selection of real bargains.
At Sydney's Closet sharp-eye shoppers can snag a Prom gown for under $200 or even under $100 on styles that have been discontinued. You’ll save up to 70% off the original retail prices.
Don't even think twice about wearing an older style gown. With tens of thousands of dresses out there no one will ever know it’s last year’s style. Store your dress safely in a closet for next year’s Prom. Avoid a plastic bag, even though it is tempting.
Also, hold off on alterations until several months before the big night. But you need to move fast. Plus size Prom frocks at bargain prices are in limited stock and fly out the door!
Sample Sales
Our design team samples more dresses than we can ever put into production. That's great news for you bargain hunters.
Watch our sale rack for dresses marked as samples. You'll discover styles that we put into the Collection but maybe just not in that color.Or you'll see fabulous designs that didn't make the final cut for the Collection.
Be careful about sizing. Sydney's Closet samples are made based on our our standard size 16. But samples can come in needing corrections to get the fit to meet our size 16 standards.
You also need to be willing to live with slight imperfections that, in almost all cases, no one will ever see. These can be minor fabric flaws, missing hook and eye or loose threads or beads. And expect sample dresses to come without labels. (But there will be hang tag telling you the style number, size and color!).
Take a minute to realize that samples, are well, really just samples. Realize a sample differs from buying overstock of styles that we made but have overstock inventory to put on sale.
Snag a sample dress and there's a good chance you are getting a one-if-a-kind design. Chances are slim to noone else shows up at Prom wearing your dress.
